Sea Change

2024Oil on linen120 × 90 cm

Begun in late winter and left alone for most of the spring. The horizon was moved four times; what reads now as a single field of grey-green is the residue of those decisions, scraped back and rebuilt until the surface stopped arguing with itself.

It is a painting about waiting — for weather, for light, for the moment a colour finally sits down next to its neighbour and holds.
